Golf Architecture: An Unconventional Look, Featuring Cynthia Dye McGarey
The name Dye is synonymous with iconic golf course architecture. Pete Dye’s legacy continues with his niece, Cynthia Dye McGarey, who collaborated with her uncle in the creation of many renowned Dye courses and has become an established course architect in her own right. Cynthia is one of the very few successful female course architects in a male-dominated profession, building courses in some of the most difficult and unexpected locations on earth.
In this MIT Alumni Forum event, Cynthia will discuss her life and career, offering insights into the world of course architects and the specifics of course design with MIT Alumni Golf Association Board member Ken Wang ’71.

Head Game: The Mental Side of Golf Webinar
Competitive Golf is played mainly on a 5.5 inch course…. the space between your ears. One of the greatest golfers to ever live, Bobby Jones (who studied English Literature at Harvard University and Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech), once said “The hardest distance in golf is the 5.5 inches between the ears.” Other golfing greats have paraphrased that thought and almost all top golfers and top golfing instructors are big time believers of that concept.
In a round that stretches over four hours we only have to focus for about 30 minutes. But knowing what to focus on, and in what way, can be the difference between leaving the course frustrated and confused, versus playing our best with what we have on a given day and having peace of mind. Join us for a webinar featuring Kevin Rhoads where we’ll discuss ways to be on the road to the latter.

The Greens Whisperer: A Master Caddie Talks About Putting
Putting is difficult. Even touring pros miss 60% of the time from 10 feet away. And putting is important. Over 40% of shots at all levels are putts; no other shot even comes close. So whether you care about your score or only pretend you don’t, what you do on the greens really matters.
Join us for an informal fireside chat with a master caddie who will tell you what you should be thinking about, what you shouldn’t be thinking about, and what really matters when your next shot is on — or hopefully about to be on —the green. Tipping not required.
